The all-new HF model HONDA CIVIC is the most fuel efficient of the non-hybridized Civics that will be available in the United States in 2012. Honda expects the HF, with its 1.8-liter i-VTEC engine, to earn EPA-estimated fuel economy of 41 miles per gallon on the highway. The HF will share its aerodynamics package with the returning Civic Hybrid, which manages a combined rating of 45 mpg due to its lithium-ion battery. This is the first time Honda has used a lithium-ion battery.
The car will also boast a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine and CVT transmission. It gets a larger 110-hp 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine linked to a continuously variable transmission.
Pricing has yet to be announced on the 2012 Civic.

Honda Canada invited some auto writers to a media roundtable the other night, looking for feedback on what the consumer is thinking.

While we emphasized the demand for technology that works as simply as the iPhone and iPad (and connects to them too) as well as more clean diesel engines, the more interesting news of the night was the confirmation the 2012 Honda Civic will be unveiled this fall at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Calling the new car "beautiful" and an evolution rather than revolution like the current model, Jerry Chenkin, Executive Vice President of Honda Canada, said he had driven the new Civic and that it would "set a new standard" for interior excellence. He said the new Civic will have "better numbers" all around, but wouldn't elaborate, saying only that the same body styles currently offered would continue.

The new Civic is a year late after Honda's new president Takanobu Ito took one look at what was to be the 2011 Civic and went "yeck." Chenkin said the car would likely be in showrooms by May 2011 as a 2012 model year car. As much as we tried for more info on the Civic, it wasn't coming, even after we plied Mr. Chenkin with red wine. He did admit under torturous questioning, however, that the 2010 Honda Insight hybrid was an "unmitigated disaster" because it was lacking the quality and value usually found in a Honda. That's frank talk from a car-company executive, but he is absolutely right. When was the last time you saw an Insight?

[Detroit Auto Show 2011] 2012 Honda Civic Coupe and Sedan Concepts seem to be real, as Honda has just introduced its 9th-generation Civic Coupe and Sedan at the show. The new 2012 Civic concepts brings subtle improvements to exterior and interior from the current-generation Civic.
It is probably that the production of both the Coupe and Sedan models would be highly similar with a difference in the two- and four-door layouts.
For the four-door layout, buyers will be getting the 2011 Civic’s exterior design. Despite the sedan’s front-fascia uses a wee bit more menace compared to the current design, the carried-over grille as well as headlights are very similar.
At this moment, both 2012 Honda Civic Coupe and Sedan Concepts are only display shells; interior or engine attached have not been announced just yet. However, Honda said that the upcoming 2012 Civic range will still include a sporty “Si” performance version, with the addition of a natural-gas Civic. Aside from that, the Civic Hybrid will be featuring a lithium-ion batteries pack that will further have longer travel distance on a single charge.
That’s all we do know at this point, expect to get more details on the 2012 Honda Civic when it hits dealerships by early next year.

Honda's CR-Z hybrid coupe remains on track as a 2011 model, on sale in late 2010. Honda wants sports-car enthusiasts to buy it not because it's green, but because it's fun. The carmaker considered doing a non-hybrid version of the CR-Z, but it desperately wants to be seen as a hybrid supplier on par with Toyota and believes it needs a range of dedicated hybrid-only models to achieve that.

So the CR-Z gets a lively 140-horse, 1.8-liter Civic-derived engine. The IMA system -- motor, battery, electronics -- will be like the Insight's, as will the platform, to save cost. A senior engineer says, "It must be fun to drive, must remind you of the original CRX." And a manual gearbox will be offered. "CVT is fine for the market, mostly. But we are Honda! We must have a manual!"

As a two-seater, the CR-Z's smaller body mass versus the Insight should make up for the weight of the bigger engine, brakes, and tires. So a 2800-pound total, with lots of electric-assist torque and a revvy gasoline engine, should make it the real deal as a pocket performance coupe.

The 2012 Honda civic will be release soon. Its face looks more elegant with headlights sharp following the body. While the front grille looks like the Honda City. Honda announced on Monday that a concept version of its 2012 Civic will be making an appearance at next month’s Detroit Auto Show. Originally, the 9th gen Civic was set to debut in the Summer of 2010 as a 2011 model, but once CAFE regulations changed and the auto industry hit hard times in 2009, Honda had to rethink things. Rumors stated Honda originally wanted to make the Civic larger, but as you can see from our earlier spy photos, the overall size of the 2012 Civic will remain largely unchanged. Judging from the teaser, the 2012 Civic is in for a new grille and headlights. The current Civic has a 1.8L 4-cylinder, however, rumors are floating around that the base motor may get bumped to 2.0L. Following its Detroit Auto Show debut, the 2012 Civic will hit Honda dealers during spring 2011.

“In this newly released sketch, the feeling of the new Civic is captured as energetic, sleek and aerodynamic. It’s a preview for this upcoming concept vehicle, which will be shown at the 2011 North American International Auto Show in January. The production version of the ninth-generation Civic based on the revealed concept will go on sale in spring 2011.

The pressure to replace a car that has been a runaway success is a daunting one. The 1984-1991 Honda CRX was a minimalist, two seater hatchback that won the hearts and wallets of miserly and performance-minded buyers. Based on a Civic chassis that had run its course, it was time for a replacement. What Honda delivered in 1993 was a radically different car from the old CRX Still a front-wheel drive two-seater, the del Sol was now a targa top roadster with a retractable rear window. The del Sol had more style and a significantly plusher interior.

Initially the del Sol was offered in two flavors, starting with the base S. Powered by a 1.5L four offering 102hp with 13″ steel wheels, it was a pretty simply machine. The del Sol Si had a 1.6L four with 125hp and 14″ alloys. Other features the Si had over the S were power mirrors, cruise control, rear disc brakes and a front anti-sway bar. Both models had a standard 5-speed manual and optional four-speed automatic.

For enthusiasts, the real news came in 1994 when North American buyers learned the wonder of V-Tec. The hot del Sol now had 160hp, and boasted a host of upgrades, including bigger brakes, a larger front sway bar, an additional rear sway bar and wider tires. I actually drove a brand-new del Sol V-Tec, and I can attest it was a seriously quick and agile car, the most intense Honda we’d ever seen here until the S2000 arrived.

The Honda Accord has improved fuel economy since the last time it was tested, and it ties the Optima at 25 mpg overall. The Accord has a compliant ride, excellent visibility and a roomy cabin. The Accord handles responsively, with good steering, but when it was pushed at CR’s test track, it was sloppy with notable body lean. The Honda Accord LX-P ($23,730 MSRP as tested) is powered by a 177-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that provides strong performance. The five-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly. Braking is very good. The interior is well-finished. Trunk space is generous.The revised Honda Accord sedan and Tourer models will make their debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The changes for the Honda Accord 2012 includes: Revised exterior styling, Detail changes to interior finishes, Improvements to emissions and economy on all engines, 138 g/km 2.2 i-DTEC introduced, Ride and handling improvements for all models, Auto High-Beam Support System and Active Cornering Lights debut on Accord, 180 PS Type S model now available across Europe with bespoke interior and exterior styling.

The rear of the Honda Accord sedan model has been subtly enhanced with the rear lights having a light red finish for the reversing light and indicators to match that of the fog light, giving a balance to the rear styling. The exclusive styling of the sedan is rounded off with a light chrome garnish above the rear licence plate on most models and a dark chrome finish on Type S grade cars.
