VW's one lakh'th car

                  Volkswagen India Private Limited celebrated the roll-out of the 100,000th car at its manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune in the presence of Ms. Supriya Sule, Honorable Member of the Parliament, Dr. John Chacko, Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India and President & Managing Director, Volkswagen India Private Limited and Mr. Holger Nestler, Executive Director, Technical, Volkswagen India Private Limited.
           German carmaker Volkswagen has successfully built one lakh cars at its plant in Chakan, Maharastra. Volkswagen's plant here is one of its most advanced and handles car production from A to Z. Volkswagen has been able to reach the milestone of building one lakh cars in two years. Production began in May 2009 with the Skoda Fabia and it was followed by the Volkswagen Polo.

The Chakan plant has an annual production capacity of 130,000 cars per year and it is a result of Volkswagen investing Rs.3,800 crores. The investment is the largest to date by a German company in India.Volkswagen builds its own branded cars as well as Skoda cars in Chakan, Skoda India's plant in Aurangabad assembles the Superb, Yeti, Laura and Volkswagen's Jetta and Passat.
